The Paleo Diet: Final Day…Kind Of

Today marks the last day that I will be recording and posting Paleo meals to this blog. This doesn’t mark the end of the 30-day trial, however, so if you’re participating, you still have a few more days. This week will be 100% Paleo- all meals- to finish up my 30-day trial. I am definitely "full-go" on the Paleo Diet and making it part of my lifestyle. If and when I make modifications to the Paleo diet, I will let you know- especially if the modifications increase my health and vitality.

I’ve decided to stop posting my Paleo meals to this blog because I am finding it an uninspiring task. I have many great ideas and plenty of creativity that I want to share instead. For example, an upcoming blog post will be about "how to feel connected spiritually and to the universe." I’m also sure that you will enjoy more value-providing-articles rather than what I ate today :)

Let’s get into the purpose of today’s article that is about advantages and disadvantages with the Paleo diet after 21-days.

Advantages of the Paleo Diet

The past 21 days have been a positive experience and I’ve seen some major improvements in my health and vitality. I will continue on with the Paleo Diet because the advantages outweighed the disadvantages. Here are a few of the major advantages since I went Paleo:

1. Increased energy
If my past energy levels on the typical American diet were a five, I would say that my current energy levels are now a ten, since being on the Paleo diet.

I feel more alive, happy, peaceful, and connected to the Universe. These feelings and states of being are the side effect of having an alkaline and non-toxic body. When you eliminate the refined sugars and grains, you’ll notice an immediate improvement in your well-being. I actually skipped some of my scheduled open meals of pizza, bagels, etc. because I didn’t want to feel like crap the rest of the day.

2. Clarity
I’ve noticed significant improvements in my meditations. I’ve been able to sustain sitting meditation longer and my thinking mind doesn’t seem as active. Again, clarity is the side effect of having a non-toxic body. You are a conduit or a vehicle for Big Mind to move in and through you. The higher vibration your body, the less knots and kinks you’ll have in your conduit.

3. Weight loss
I didn’t measure my weight this time around because what I weigh is not important to me. The last time I went completely Paleo, I lost about 30 pounds in three months- healthfully. I do notice my face thinning out and when I stand naked in front of the mirror, I can see a noticeable thinner midsection area. I currently weigh 190 pounds.

One of the beauties about the Paleo diet is that you cannot over eat and put on weight. How many fruits, vegetables, and meats can you eat in one sitting to gain weight? You would have to eat a TON. However, when you are plugging yourself with fried foods, sugars, and grains, your body will hold onto the fat because it thinks it’s in distress.

Overtime you will move to your natural weight. However, if weight loss is important to you, do not eat as many nuts and dried fruit. If you do eat a lot of those foods, it will take longer to reach your natural weight.

4. Better sex
Hey what can I say, the healthier your body and higher your energy levels, the better intimate and sexual experiences you will have. I’m not going to go in detail about this one. You will have to try the Paleo diet for yourself to see if better sex will be a side-effect. ;)

5. Creativity
Ah yes…I love being creative, coming up with new ideas, and implementing them. I think this month has been the most creative month I’ve had in a year. You don’t see that creativity yet, but you will in good time my friend. I’ve thought of three awesome books to write, two more Spiritual Avatar products, and a few creative online ideas that you’ll see soon with the Spiritual Avatar.

Disadvantages and obstacles with the Paleo diet

There were a few disadvantages and obstacles that balanced the "awesome-ness" of the Paleo Diet. Obstacles are expected with any lifestyle change or in life all together. Do you really think white could exist without black? Up without down? Would Darth Vader exist if there not any Jedi?

Here are the main disadvantages that I’ve noticed in the past 21-days:

1. Time consuming
The Paleo diet is not a "grab-and-go" style of eating. You have to think ahead and plan your meals in order to succeed with the Paleo Diet. In America, that can be challenging at times. This country tends to value speed, success, convenience, and doing above all other things. If there was a push button to make everything easy, 98% of the people in the western culture would have one.

Most people have a packed day with attending to their kids, going to work for eight hours, doing that extra project so you can quit your job, going to the gym, socializing, and so on. There were many times when I wanted to be lazy and grab something quick. However, committing to myself, my girlfriend, and to you kept me strong during the transition to Paleo.

You will eventually get used to the time commitment the Paleo lifestyle requires. It’s a new habit that you are developing and soon enough it will be second nature.

2. Bland foods
Sometimes I didn’t have time to prepare my meals. Therefore, I often found myself eating plain chicken- boring. Learning how to cook Paleo was challenging. You had to throw out almost all knowledge of past cooking habits and start from scratch. It felt like I was trying to ride a bike for the first time. There are not many resources out there- with pictures- to guide you along and have a successful meal in cooking and taste. Once you do find a solid recipe, however, print it out and bookmark it on your computer. That golden recipe will be a life saver.

You are going to have to experiment with different flavor and ingredient combinations for your Paleo meals. The Paleo cookbook and Paleo book do an okay job with recipes, but often times their cooking processes didn’t work. Luckily, you’ll feel more creative from the Paleo diet and you’ll come up with a solution.

There are some resources for Paleo cooking. And here are the resources I use:

I’m sure the past 21 days of the Spiritual Avatar have been helpful. I know from experience that creating a new habit and becoming healthier can be a challenge at times. What helps is to have resources from people who have already accomplished what you want to achieve. That’s why I posted 21-days of Paleo meals and did the 30-day trial with you.

The Paleo diet is not the only eating lifestyle out there, but it is the one that meets my health goals and contributes to my overall well-being. I know it will do the same to you. Enjoy your Paleo lifestyle!
